LPGA Pro Emma Talley is one of the most decorated golfers on the Women’s PGA Championship. She won the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship against Yueer Cindy Feng. But when it comes to golf, good days are not guaranteed.
In the first round of the Championship on Thursday, something unexpected happened which left everyone speechless. Talley found herself in a situation that resulted in her breaking down mid-game. Keep reading to know what happened.
Emma Talley cries after breaking her putter
Talley putted with a 58-degree wedge during the last three holes of the first round of the tournament. The golfer accidentally broke her putter after tapping it on her left shoe. The golfer also said that this is a habit that she has after she misses an opportunity while playing. However, she wasn’t lucky this time as the putter broke.
As a result of the disappointing event she encountered, the athlete broke into tears and was seen crying in the middle of the game. The golfer continued to feel emotional even after the round was over. She mentioned the possible reason for the putter breaking in the post-round interview.
It looked like she was upset about it happening unexpectedly and without her hitting it too hard on her shoe. The golfer used her putter to tap the sand off her shoes, which could have been the reason behind it breaking. She also mentioned her habit of continuously tapping her putter on her shoe now and then.
Instead of using a wedge, Talley had an option to continue to use her broken putter. But she could not replace her putter mid-game as she was the reason behind the damage.
